Problems and Faults with the W204 C Class
My car is registered September so it is out of warrant and has done 49k miles. In January my coolant light came on, I thought it was strange it hadn't happened in the many years I had the car and I had kept a good service history etc. I rang one main dealer they said top up with water as it is an air bubble that can sometimes happen I then rang another dealer to verify this and they indeed said it is protocol so I topped it up.
For the next 2 and a half months I topped my car up with water as the light would come on once every weeks initially until it was close to once every 3 days.
The lad on the parts desk said my engine had the code that could have a faulty batch of water pumps. Mid-MarchI rang the main dealer and mentioned my predicament. He then proceeded to mention it will undergo a stress test before they order and replace the water pump as they need to be certain.
He confirmed it was the water pump and I booked it in. I rang the main dealer they said it is the air bubble that could cause the issue and top it up with water So I put in ml of coolant as I read water isn't the best thing to use Yesterday my coolant light came on again, so I rang Mercedes. The W stopped production inwhich is a seven year run since The Mercedes W came in a saloon, estate and coupe variants with the majority of engines available in all formats.
The W was the company car of choice by many companies, with the impressive MPG and emission figures coming from the efficient 4 cylinder diesel models. The C63 AMG version of the W is probably the most popular Mercedes to date that is attracted by both the young and older generation of drivers around the world. The C Class already looks great, but with a few tweaks you can transform the W into an aggressive Mercedes with big road presence. Popular modifications are to the grill, such as the this black finished grill with chrome slat found on current C63 Models.
Also, colour coded mudflaps are a great upgrade to the W that reduce spray but more importantly look great.
Keep up to date by checking vosa. Overall, the W was a step ahead from the previous C Class W and has many high reviews regarding reliability. With over models, you have a vast selection, which you can view here. Toggle navigation. Related Posts. Facts and Figures. Find Garage. Contact Us.Forums New posts Search forums. Ask Honest John I have read and agree to the terms and conditions. If you are changing your coolant this is also the perfect time to give your cooling system a complete flush.
While it is next to impossible to get all of the coolant and contaminants out of the system without removing the heater core lines and blowing out the heating system this method will get the system as clean as possible and more than good enough for the next ten years. Allow the cooling system to cool down to a coolant temperature of less than 80 degrees C.
Open the cap of the cooling system slowly; turn a conventional coolant cap as far as the first detent and turn a screwed coolant cap approx. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
NEVER pour coolant into beverage bottles, cups, etc. Someone might accidentally pick that cup up and start to drink. Always dispose of your used coolant correctly and in accordance with your local regulations. Never pour it down a drain or in the ground. If you are going to drain the coolant from the block you are going to be working around the starter motor, as the block drain plug is located right beside the starter. I highly, highly recommend you disconnect the battery, as the chance of harming yourself and the vehicle is greatly increased once everything is wet with coolant.
Begin by safely jacking up and supporting your car. The coolant reservoir is located on the right side of the motor beside the right side air duct red arrow. Large Image Extra-Large Image.
Let the engine cool completely before beginning this job. Once everything is cool slowly open the reservoir cap to release the pressure. With the cap off the coolant will drain quicker. You will need to remove the under engine tray to access it. If you need help removing the tray please see our article on under body tray removal for additional assistance. Attach a hose to the drain spigot red arrow and use a set of pliers to turn the drain knob yellow arrow. The drain knob is made from plastic as is the drain assembly and cannot be replaced without replacing the entire radiator red arrowso use care when working with it. Our drain knob needed to be turned 90 degrees counter clockwise and then pulled out to get the fluid to drain.
There have been several versions of these radiators over the years so be prepared to improvise if yours is different than our project car. The engine block drain plug is located on the right side of the motor just above the starter red arrow. The 6mm Allen bolt red arrow is very close to the starter so it is a really, really good idea to disconnect the battery first.
Please see our battery article for additional information. The leads on the starter should be covered but I strongly recommend disconnecting the battery especially since everything will be wet with coolant once it is drained.2014 Mercedes C250 Passenger Footwell Leak from Car Wash
To flush the system: close all the openings and fill the reservoir with distilled water. Run the motor with the heater on full for a few minutes.
Then drain and repeat until the water runs out clear. To fill and vent the system: the best way is to rent or borrow a coolant system pressure tester; this will allow you to fill, pressurize and vent the system all at one time. The secret to money apk crack
If you do not have a pressure tester you can still fill and vent the system, but it is important to get all of the air out of the system or the engine will run hot. Note: If you have completely drained the cooling system using the drain plug on the side of the block you may want to disconnect the upper radiator hose at the radiatorhold it up in the air, and fill the block by pouring coolant into the hose.
Do not fill the coolant hose completely, as it will make a mess when you reconnect it back to the radiator. Reconnect the upper radiator hose and fill the reservoir, start the motor with the cap off and allow the motor to run for a few minutes but do not let it get hot.Got car issues? Sealing an engine block coolant leak can seem like an impossible task. The engine block in your vehicle is one of the places where cracks or leaks look like a non-repairable problem.
There are certain years and makes of engine blocks that are prone to cracking or leaking. Before you purchase a used vehicle, it is a good idea to do as much research as you can to discover if they are prone to any failures. Many popular cars have automotive forums which are a place specifically for owners to swap stories and talk about maintenance issues, upgrades or simply how much they love those vehicles.Dragon nest m global
There are, however, some other great places where you can find information from owners of a similar make a model vehicle. One place to find good reviews is www.Dichiarazioni sostitutive di certificazioni rese dal genitore o dal tutore
Edmunds is a new and used care valuation website but often contains some great information on late model cars and what owners say are the pros and cons of owning them. Another interesting resource is www. This is a website where people can list problems they have had with a particular make, model and year vehicle. If certain complaints come up regularly it can be an indication that there was a defect in the manufacturing of these vehicles or that certain parts brake often.
Also, remember what may seem like a lot of complaints may only represent a tiny portion of those vehicles actually on the road and may be isolated incidents. If the leak is coming from a hose, you can check out our article about fixing that leak here: How to Fix a Radiator Hose Leak. If the leak is not coming from a hose, then there is a good chance you have a leaking freeze plug or small crack in your engine block.
Rather than wasting your time climbing around under your vehicle and trying to find where the leak is, you can use BlueDevil Radiator and Block Sealer to stop the leak quickly and easily.
Simply slowly pour BlueDevil Radiator and Block Sealer directly into your radiator as your engine idles from a cold start. BlueDevil Radiator and Block Sealer is a liquid sealer that will not harm or damage your engine so it can stay in your cooling system until your next cooling system flush. Using BlueDevil Radiator and Block Sealer is a great way to get a little more life out of your old vehicle even if it has a cracked engine block!Do you enjoy oil stains in your driveway and constantly having to pour more oil into your engine every month?
We didn't think so. Here are a few of the common causes of oil leaks on modern Mercedes-Benz engines and how to service them. Not all oil leaks are created equal. Some leaks plague certain engines more than others, so it's important to diagnose where your engine is leaking from before you dive into replacing every gasket and seal you can get your gloves on. One pro-tip is to clean off any surface you suspect is leaking oil using a brake cleaner and a rag.
After the surface is clean, drive the car for a few hundred miles and check back on the area. The oil separator is held onto the back of bank 1 passenger side with either 4 torx bolts or 4 external torx bolts. Remove the oil separator, replace, and clean the oil residue from the engine. The plugs will pop out with a screw driver and the new ones can be pushed on by hand.
Be sure that they're pushed in flush with the engine as improper seating will result in, you guessed it, an oil leak.
The driver's side front of the engine is where you will find your oil filter and housing. If you see oil at the bottom of the housing, you may need a new oil filter housing and cooler gaskets. The process of replacing these gasket is super easy:. If your timing cover plug is leaking, it's likely due to a bad seal. Luckily, replacement could not be easier:.
